Miša entered The 5000 CLUB

Budapest, February, 3rd - 4th, 2007

When we find somebody’s name in the papers that means he had done something unusual and when talking about Mihajlo Dudaš that’s his sport result. The importance of this result is also confirmed by the fact that he was the main topic of the reports from combined events in Budapest, but that’s not all. The cover of “Journal” newspapers for both days draws the public attention to texts entitled “Dudaš for the record” and “A bouquet of tulips for Mihajlo”, referring to Mihajlo’s success.

This extensive media attention was brought to Mihajlo Dudaš because of his exceptional result in heptathlon. He won the first place at Junior Championship of Hungary in heptathlon with the result matching the new Serbian record of 5064 points, the result also being the best junior result in the world. This result may be a surprise for the public, but for our Club and his trainers, Goran Obradović and Feđa Kamasi it was not only expected but also announced before the competition.

The attachment of this text contains the bulletin with the results of combined events PDF (86KB), as well as overall results PDF (139KB) obtained at the meeting held within that competition and issued at the Hungarian Athletic Federation Web site.

Significant role on the meeting in Budapest held last weekend belongs to one other member of our Club. Ivana Španović won the first place in long jump with the result of 6.19 m, identical to the second place winner Vaszi Tunde from Hungary, whose career is marked by Olympic Games finals, as well as World and European Championships. Her best achievement is bronze medal at the World Indoor Championship. This is the second time Ivana defeated Vaszi Tunde this season.

Miroslav Novaković (hurdles) candidate for European Championship in Birmingham that is to be held at the beginning of next month, won the first place in 60 m hurdles race, stopping the watch at 7.97 and showing his readiness to reach the threshold for that Championship.

Boris Gluhak acquired a modest result in 200 m race. Igor Šarčević debuted in heptathlon, also with a modest result and with an ill performance in his primary discipline (pole vault) but insinuating that his determination for heptathlon may be concidered appropriate.

On Friday, January 26th, Ivana Španović made another success at the competition in Syma hall in Budapest, at EAA Permint meeting. She won the third place in long jump with the result of 6.20 m. This result is still not good enough for records but series of six jumps over 6 meters, with only one foul, is absolutely encouraging. The first place was won by our former contestant Marija Martinović, now married Šestak. Her new Slovenian record of 6.59 m is the third result of this winter season in Europe. Second place was won by Jana Veldakova (6.38 m) from Slovakia.

Ten athletes from Serbia participated on this meeting. The most precious placement belongs to Miroslav Novaković, who won the second place in 60 m rally race with the result of 7.98.
